Listen Up 3 in the Leard State forest was aweome. Check some photos from the gig here and in the new zine. One of the bands 10th Man, with Leard State Forest activist Paul McIlwraith is in an ABC band competition and needs our support! Their set list is based on anti CSG and anti coal mining, so if they win, they’ll get media attention which spreads our message! Power of the music!

Follow these instructions to vote for them:

1. Visit www.abc.net.au/tv/exhumed/bands/

2. Click the 10th Man profile, check out the video and vote.

3. Vote for 2 other bands (to validate the voting). I suggest have a listen to others (or vote for the bands with the least votes ;) )

4. Confirm the vote in the email they’ve sent you.

Big love

Jono’s sencond court appearance.

Jonathan Moylan is facing up to 10 years jail and up to $765,000 in fines for a creative action drawing attention to the controversial Whitehaven coal mine in the Leard State forest, and ANZ’s ongoing finance of destructive coal projects.

Jonathan’s action opened up an important conversation in Australia. The proposed Whitehaven coal mine is a contested and controversial project. Big coal and gas companies are driving our political agenda while big banks like ANZ are profiting from polluting projects that destroy farmlands and water.

And now a principled young man who took action for future generations is being faced with heavy penalties, whilst corporate criminals avoid prosecution.

We are standing with Jono. Join us. Stand with us at the Downing Centre next Tuesday.

The Leard State Forest - info about the forest and the camp here http://frontlineaction.wordpress.com/about/ . Basically mines will take up half of the forest, drain the water table in the area, pollute the surrounding farmland, emit one fifth of Australia’s greenhouse gasses, and destroy communities if people don’t make a stand to stop this filth.

- Tarrawonga mine, destruction courtesy of Whitehaven Coal. The CEO of this company Mark Vaile is the ex-deputy Prime Minister of Australia and led the Nationals. There is also an article I’ll get hold of discussing the close relations between the government and mining companies, leading to heavy corruption at the expense of local communities, health, and the environment.

- Matey stood in front of the truck, waited until they’d unloaded it and were about to move it across the public road without a licence.. a couple of questions later, ‘where’s the number plate? where’s your vest?’, meant they loaded it back on the truck and right back down the road.

- Boggabri mine - destruction courtesy of Idemitsu Coal

- Traditional Owners Matthew and Alfred Priestley show their law on kangaroo skin; Aboriginal law shown with the (complex) Native Title claim.

- Sunset beautifully lit up by coal dust.

- Nearby farmland at risk of coal dust pollution and drained water supply.

Come to the Listen Up festival to check it out for yourself and show some support! https://www.facebook.com/events/533019453432787/
